How to compare RMM pricing without missing the real cost
The lowest advertised rate is not always the lowest operating cost. Normalize every quote, include the work around the product, and test the assumptions that could change your bill.
Put every quote into the same monthly formula
Start with the recurring license, then add required modules, overages, and recurring services. Keep one-time migration and implementation work on a separate line so it does not disappear inside a monthly comparison.
Per device
managed endpoints × endpoint rate
Useful when: Your endpoint count is stable and the rate includes the capabilities you need.
Watch for: Workstation and server rates, minimum quantities, mobile devices, and endpoints that remain billable while offline.
Per technician
technician seats × seat rate
Useful when: A small team manages a growing fleet and endpoint growth should not automatically increase the RMM bill.
Watch for: Minimum seats, limited technician roles, concurrent-user rules, and add-ons priced per endpoint.
Tiered or bundled
base tier + overages + optional modules
Useful when: The included tools replace costs you would otherwise pay separately.
Watch for: Unused bundle features, jumps between tiers, overage rates, and modules that are required for ordinary workflows.
Worked example

Questions that expose the real total
- Is billing based on enrolled, active, or recently seen endpoints?
- Are servers, network devices, mobile devices, or virtual machines priced differently?
- Which security, automation, reporting, and remote-access features require another module?
- Are onboarding, data import, training, implementation, or support billed separately?
- Does the agreement have a minimum quantity, annual term, renewal increase, or early-exit charge?
- Can you export devices, policies, scripts, reports, and audit history before leaving?
- What labor is required to deploy, tune, migrate, and remove the agent?
